The position of Territorial Resources Coordinator (TRC) has the role of being the the main point of contact for the SON Environment Office(EO) files that relate to the natural resources such as; forestry, water, water taking, in water and near water work (i.e, dredging), quarries and gravel pits, and other mineral extraction.
The main ministries that the TRC is in contact with in relation to the EO files are the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), Ministry of the Environment (MOE), Ministry of Northern Development and Mines (MNDM), Ministry of Tourism and Culture (MTCC), Transport Canada (TC), and Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO).
The main Joint Council teams/committees that are involved in the TRC files are the Quarry Team, Consultation Team, Fisheries Team, and the Joint Land Claims. Often the files overlap, and a Quarry file can have potential impacts on water and fish. Members of these teams are required to meet, monthly when possible, to receive updates on the files and make recommendations to the Joint Council for action/decisions on the files.
