The Environment Office is organizing a series of community meetings around Ontario, bringing together Saugeen Ojibway Nation members to discuss Ontario Power Generation's proposed Deep Geologic Repository for low and intermediate level nuclear waste. Leadership and Environment Office staff will be attending these meetings to share information with community members and hold frank conversations about the project and its impact on the SON. These meetings are for SON members only because it's important that we be able to discuss these issues amongst ourselves.

OPG is holding its own meetings with SON members as well, to share information and answer the important questions of community members about the project. These meetings are organized by OPG, NOT the Environment Office. The Joint Chiefs and Council of the SON, and the Environment Office, are not endorsing what OPG has to say, but we do encourage you to attend, listen and ask your questions of OPG.

The decision on whether SON will support the proposed DGR, will not be made by the Joint Council, or the Environment Office. It is a community decision that will be made by members only. These community meetings are an important part of the community process, helping to provide SON members with the data they need to make an informed decision. We hope to see you at a community meeting soon.
